What are the best flea, tick, and heartworm prevention options available?
Preventing heartworm, fleas and ticks is critical to the wellness of your pet. We recommend a variety of preventatives from once a month (Nexgard Plus, Heartgard, Nexgard for dogs and Revolution Plus for cats) to yearly injectable preventatives such as Proheart 12 yearly injection for heartworm prevention and Bravecto Quantum yearly injection for flea and tick control (both for dogs only). We will work with you to tailor a preventative plan that best fits your pet’s lifestyle, health needs, and risk factors.
What is the recommended age for spaying or neutering my pet, and what are the benefits?
Recent research has shown health benefits (cancer protection and joint health benefits) in delaying spaying (female) and neutering (male) until 12-18 months for certain breeds of dogs. An exception to this recommendation would be the need to correct hormonally driven undesirable behaviors (dog or human aggression).
Female cats can be spayed as early as 6 months of age and male cats can be neutered as early as 6 months of age as well.

Learn more about these services on our Diagnostic X-ray, Ultrasound and Echocardiogram page under Services on our website.
What is involved in your in-house laboratory screening and when is pet bloodwork necessary?
Diagnostic and screening laboratory blood work is an extremely valuable resource. When your pet is ill, it gives us valuable information in the diagnosis of the illness. In preventative care, it allows us to have a baseline value for your pet in the event they become ill at a later date; as well as early detection of disease before symptoms occur.
